Touchdown to Toronto - so beautiful at night (and not too shabby in the day).

Acclimatizing thru the Winter

Every couple days I have to pinch myself. Life is still seeming so surreal… It’s been a couple months now in Toronto – and I don’t know if I’m completely used to it. At times I catch myself thinking of making plans with friends (in Vancouver), only to have to remind myself I’m not in Vancouver anymore.

I’ve been lucky in the fact that my parents have already visited, my best friend has already booked her tickets to visit and I’m able to go back to Vancouver in the spring… but I still feel strange calling myself a Torontonian. Maybe it’s a good thing – I mean, I feel so at home here that I forget I’m not in Vancouver (although technically, Toronto is my new home).

Maybe it’s the weather? It’s throwing me off. I’m not used to having to wear sunglasses in the Winter! (Although today is a scarves, mitts, toque kind-of day).

Whatever, it is, I’ll get used to it (along with the new last name!).

Inspiring Design

I've been talking a lot about this whole 'growing up' thing and how scary/exciting it is... but I never shared what I'm most inspired about around all this change in my life - it's decorating my own place!! (I'm sure a few of you were expecting the 'getting married' part, but isn't that a given?)

I've been find LOTS and LOTS of design inspirations via blogs and magazines - and one may even say, that too much inspiration creates scattered thoughts and ideas, but I beg to differ!

What are my inspirations?

Blogs like Decorista, Decor8, Lonny Mag, and too many more to list! Here are a few of my favorite inspirations in the last little while:

Still Waiting...

So 2 months ago, I wrote about how I was waiting for sunshine and summer... Well, it's now almost August, and it looks like Mr.Sunshine decided to overlook Vancouver this year. Not to worry - as I'm going to take myself to sunshine. Yup - I'm flying to Toronto tonight where it's current 45 degrees celcius (including humidity). And will I complain about the heat? NO. After suffering through a so-called summer here in Vancouver, I will welcome the humidity and heat with open arms. *hugs*

All I have to say is #excitingtimesahead :)

Commitments and Intentions

Talk about neglect! That's exactly what I've been doing to this blog since I came back from Toronto!

Life is just so much busier in Vancouver - sigh. I miss the relaxed feel of Toronto (at least for me - most people wouldn't really say that Toronto is relaxed)... But in Vancouver, there are errands, commitments and so many other things! I guess that's what happens when you live in the same city for your whole life!

But I'm not complaining. Not at all. My plan is to soak up as much Vancouver as I can in the next few months and then move my westcoast yoga vibe to Toronto in the Fall. I've put the intention out - there's no turning back now!

The End of an Era?

The adventure is over. Nah - I'm being dramatic!

After more than 3 weeks in the city of Toronto, I'm heading back to Vancouver. Still trying to get over the fact that 3 weeks can pass by so quickly! But it was an amazing 3 weeks... spent my time working, with the future hubby, getting our engagement pics done, cooking mounds of found, exploring different parts of the city and lots more!

...and now it's back to reality? Well, I don't know about that... life is pretty good in Vancouver too! No complaints! :)

Spring in my Step!

As the official first full day of Spring... I couldn't think of a more apt title. And it holds true, I do have a certain spring in my step. Although there could be many, many reasons for this:

  1. I got my heels fixed today (while I waited barefoot in the underground PATH - need I say more)
  2. I've overdosed on the americanos today
  3. I've been living the good life in Toronto for almost 3 weeks!
  4. It's pleasantly mild in Toronto (considering...)
  5. I'm so busy at work, it's energizing!
  6. Or of course, it's the first full day of Spring!

Whatever the reason - I'm happy to be feeling light, energetic, smiley and everything in between. [Notice that's its well in the afternoon now - not even Spring could cure my "Monday-morning-already" syndrome].

The Curious Case of the Almond

That’s right. It is a curious case. In a city as big as Toronto – where I have been spending my time the last 2 weeks, I am baffled by the limited availability of almond milk at cafes and coffee shops! BAFFLED, I tell you.

Coming from Vancouver where there are more than a few cafes that serve almond milk (like Blendz, Trees, and Crème de la Crumb and Caffe Divano – just to name a few!), I am shocked that Toronto is so far behind. You would think that in today’s day and age (with all the lactose and soy allergies) – there would be some other options.

I know, I know… it’s not the end of the world – and my problems are quite minuscule compared to other issues in the world. But, I’m just sayin’…

Needless to say, I’ve gotten used to having Americano sans any dairy.

PS. From my experience, "Almond Fresh" is the best tasting brand out there :)

These Boots were made for Walking...

...and that's just what they'll do.

After many-a-countless trips to Toronto (in the Winter!), I came to the realization that if I want to protect myself from the elements (which are so much more angry over there), I would have to invest in some over-the-knee boots. Now I was under the assumption that because I'm short (5' 1.5"), that the longer boot style would just make me look stumpy... Boy, was I wrong!

I walked blindly into Nordstrom (the only place I buy shoes) and told the sales consultant, "Show me what you have for over-the-knee boots for short people." She was fabulous! The last pair she brought out were the most fabulous Frye boots. It was love at first sight - the leather was so soft, the chocolate brown was so rich - it really was everything you could ever want in a boot - and I really feel like they made me look taller! No jokes! And the price... well, let's just say that these are a fabulous investment.
