Better Late than Never

Although we weren't together for our first valentines day as a married couple, the mister did win points by bringing home a bouquet of flowers. And I got points in his book for baking a banana loaf!
...Not that we're keeping score or anything (cue Marshall and Lily from How I Met your Mother) ;)

Valentine's in Paris - *swoon*

Wouldn't it be amazing to be in Paris with your Valentine today?

"Lucky" me gets to spend my first married Valentine's Day with the TV as the husband entertains his coworkers as dates... not to despair though, I stumbled across this post from Girl's Guide to Paris and I plan to daydream the evening away...

I Found my Heart in Paris

So a while back I left my heart in NYC... well as fate would have it, I also left a part of my heart in Paris.

There's just something special about these time lapse artistries.

It's a Special Day!

Not only was the man of my dreams born 25 years ago today, but I actually get to celebrate it with him today! It seems silly, but for the last few years, I have never been able to celebrate his birthday with him - for reasons out of my control, it's just never worked!

So what's on the agenda tonight?

I know it's only Thursday, but we're checking out a wine bar in the swanky neighborhood of Yorkville! Yippee!!

And since this is a birthday post, let me leave you with this:

Lucky Me.

I'm a lucky girl. No, really.I'm serious.

This Valentine’s Day, my man and I couldn’t be together – I’m living on the West Coast and he’s on the East Coast… BUT what a thoughtful man I have.

Case in Point:

An express post package arrives for me… what could it be? I was thinking scarf or a blouse… but no, because that would’ve been thoughtless. Instead of I receive homemade (from scratch might I add and made by my man) chocolate almond truffles. Made with love and shipped over as fast as they could get here… MMmm…

I think I got me a keeper! Luckily we’re getting hitched THIS YEAR!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Paris Je T'aime

I swear it. The city of love, lust and lights is calling me. I think it knows that I was meant to live there...

It's the people, the culture, the food, the lifestyle - Parisien's really enjoy life to the fullest; and yes, sometimes they do take themselves rather seriously... but honestly, have you seen how they dress? Everything about Paris and the parisien lifestyle is enviable. Even if I could immerse myself in that culture for a few months, I'd be happy.

One day... let's hope in the near future... this dream will become a reality

The Elephant Medley

Definitely one of the funnest movie songs - who knew that Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman could sing?

Isn't it Wonderful?

I am not interested in money, I just want to be wonderful

Yup. That's what Marilyn Monroe once said... Now I'm saying it - Be yourself - fabulously classy and charmingly wonderful, and success is bound to follow!

So now here's my top 10 list (as requested by a lovely friend) of things that make life beautiful:

10. Getting a card in the mail from someone you see regularly
 9.  Laughing until your face hurts
 8.  Giving someone a compliment for no reason and watching their face light up
 7.  Long walks on even longer beaches
 6.  Wrapping yourself in a blanket and watching a classic movie on a rainy day
 5.  Eating junk food without feeling guilty
 4.  Getting lost in a book
 3.  Exploring new and untapped corners of the city
 2.  Having the freedom to make everyday something beautiful
 1.  Just being in the moment

Didn't anyone every tell you? The best things in life are free.
