Take a Picture, it'll Last Longer

So I told myself that I would take more pictures this year - in fact, I said it just last week. And now, 7 days later, I have nothing to show for it. The worst part is - over the past week, I have thought to myself, 'Oh! You should take a picture of this!'... and then I didn't. How hard is it for me to pull out my phone and take a picture? And don't even get me started on the dust my Digital SLR has been collecting... It's a sad, sad thought.

OKAY. Now I'm writing it and saying it out loud. I WILL take more pictures. Starting today...

(Ask me how I'm doing next week!)

happy new year!

Well, it only took the start of a new year to get me back to my blog!

Saying goodbye to 2011 is a little bittersweet - it was a whirlwind of a year with so many life changes, I know that it'll make any other year seem like a snooze!

Let me recap my 2011 (in no particular order):

  1. Got married (IN INDIA)
  2. Moved to Toronto (from Vancouver)
  3. Downsized my closet (substantially - and that's why it's worth mentioning)
  4. Started a new job (in a new city)
  5. Spent a good half of the year flying back and forth from Toronto (airmiles... cha ching!)
  6. Switched to an iPhone (from a blackberry) - it's a life change, I don't care what you think!
  7. Flew to Vancouver (just for dinner one night)
  8. Went to India during monsoon season (not for my wedding, but for a friends)
  9. Kept up the tradition of an annual NYC trip
  10. Changed my LAST name!

Alright, now for 2012, here's what I'm hoping for (again, in no particular order):

  1. Take a dance class
  2. Honeymoon in the summer (to somewhere we'd never typically go)
  3. Cook at least 5 times a week
  4. Pursue rock-climbing
  5. Skype with friends in Vancouver on a regular basis
  6. Find a new home in Toronto (closer to work perhaps!)
  7. Avoid driving if transit/walking can take me there
  8. Blog more often
  9. Take more pictures and post them!
  10. Make healthy choices

I think those are all fairly doable :)

Published!

Last month was a super exciting month for me - and no, not just because I was living the good life in Toronto.

I was published! In print!

Now, this is exciting because although I know online media is the new paradigm - there's just something about holding paper in your hands that makes it so much real (that, and the fact that I've been published online a couple times already).

New goal for 2011: Get published in print at least 2 more times.

Commitments and Intentions

Talk about neglect! That's exactly what I've been doing to this blog since I came back from Toronto!

Life is just so much busier in Vancouver - sigh. I miss the relaxed feel of Toronto (at least for me - most people wouldn't really say that Toronto is relaxed)... But in Vancouver, there are errands, commitments and so many other things! I guess that's what happens when you live in the same city for your whole life!

But I'm not complaining. Not at all. My plan is to soak up as much Vancouver as I can in the next few months and then move my westcoast yoga vibe to Toronto in the Fall. I've put the intention out - there's no turning back now!

Paris Je T'aime

I swear it. The city of love, lust and lights is calling me. I think it knows that I was meant to live there...

Paris_night

It's the people, the culture, the food, the lifestyle - Parisien's really enjoy life to the fullest; and yes, sometimes they do take themselves rather seriously... but honestly, have you seen how they dress? Everything about Paris and the parisien lifestyle is enviable. Even if I could immerse myself in that culture for a few months, I'd be happy.

One day... let's hope in the near future... this dream will become a reality

The Hours Are Escaping!

Tick tock… tick tock… you look up – how has 3 hours passed?!

It’s extremely easy to struggle to fit everything you want into a single day – I mean really, you have maybe 14 hours of productivity time in a day… really, not as much as it seems. Take away 8-9 hours at work, another hour or 2 commuting to and from work… and you’re really left with about 3 hours in which you have to eat, unwind and fit anything else in. Frustrating as it is, the hours escape us, those hours turn into days and weeks, and before you know it – BAM! It’s February!

Ummmm… what did I accomplish from my personal goal list in January? Sigh…
